Standard scan procedure

If restoration work is required, we will contact you before proceeding.

For each standard scan type there is a choice of 8 or 16 bits.
The terms '8 bits' or '16 bits' in this website are related
to the number of bits per channel ( R G B ).




8-bit scan per channel =

24-bit scan (R 8 bits + G 8 bits + B 8 bits).


16-bit scan per channel =

48-bit scan (R 16 bits + G 16 bits + B 16 bits).

Scan

1) 8-Bit Scan


We scan your original slide to produce an uncompressed 8 bits RGB TIFF file of 70 MB with Adobe RGB (1998) colour space and an output resolution of 300dpi. This scan is the same as the Scan70 service but without digital cleaning. If cleaning is required this should be done by an experienced photo-editor. Depending on the state of the original slide this can prove to be a time-consuming activity. By opting for the Scan70 service this work is included.


2) 16-Bit Scan


We scan your original slide to produce an uncompressed 16 bits RGB TIFF file of 140 MB with Adobe RGB (1998) colour space and an output resolution of 300dpi. This scan is the same as the Scan70 service but without digital cleaning. This Scan is ideal when editing is required as a 16-bit source limits quality loss during editing.

For restoration work the hourly tariff is € 30 invoicing we use a 3 minute time-unit.

- Optical inspection of the film
- Anti-static cleaning of the film
- Scan at 16 bits
- Colour correction

- Change to PC/Mac format





You can deviate from this procedure if you wish by stating this on the order form.




Orders for up to 6 scans will have an additional charge of € 6 for burning onto a CD and € 9 for burning onto a DVD. Costs of CD/DVD burning are included with orders for 6 or more scans.
These prices apply until 01-01-2011.

Delivery conditions



Dia-scan produces scans as instructed on the order form.
Special assignments will be formalised with a written estimate.
When the quality of the slides requires additional work we will contact you.




Payment conditions



You will first receive the scan results together with the invoice. When payment has been received the originals will be posted to you by registered mail with insurance.


Acceptation



When you place an order with Dia-Scan you automatically accept our conditions and disclaimer.

Shipment Advice

We advise you to insure your parcel and use a credible company. Please ensure that the parcel is secure.

We cannot be held responsible for loss or damage of shipments.

Disclaimer

We take the utmost care of your originals. In the very unlikely situation of loss or damage to your originals we will only reimburse the price of the unexposed film used.

All scans are executed on an Imacon Flextight 949 to guarantee absolute top quality.

Dia-scan history

We were asked by a number of photographers if we could Digitize stockphotos for a reasonable price. In a close working relationship with our customers we have produced very high-quality scans and Digitized all their work. We have also been actively involved in digitizing photo-archives for universities and several companies.

Price for archiving



Depending on what is required the price can vary
from € 1 per scan to more than € 20 per scan. For archiving it is important to have a very clear specification that gives maximum usage and minimal costs. Together with the customer we will first do several example scans to determine what is required and for us to become familiar with the source material. We will then be able to give a quotation.
